Christmas Decorations

I love after Christmas sales, and I am very much prone to purchase decorations for my tree and home each year. And each year it takes me longer and longer, sometimes days, to finish decorating! If I happen to forget to put something out, or put it in a different spot than the previous years, my oldest granddaughter and two young grandsons will immediately take notice. And, after all, I do the decorating just to see their eyes light up like the bulbs on my tree.

I'm also a perfectionist when it comes to wrapping presents, which is fun the first few, but the closer it gets to Christmas, it becomes a chore, and a dreaded one at that! (I'll not admit that to my family). Thats when I resort to cramming the rest of the presents in bags, thought I do try to make them look nice. I have one of those tape despensers that fits around your wrist, and honestly, it saves time. I highly recommend getting one! And one of those blade things that slices right through the paper. It also saves time, and works great with the stiffer gift wrap, but not so well with the thinner.

I couldn't pass up the silver pinecone beside it!
My oldest grandson caught his first fish this summer, and I recently came across an ornament fisherman's basket, with a tiny reel attached. I had to have it to commerate such a great accomplishment!

My youngest granddaughter will be one year old this month. Last year, right after she was born, I purchased a stocking with her name, and an ornament of a little girl holding a toy, as well as several other ornaments to celebrate such an important day!

Christmas is by far my most favorite holiday. It's not the presents, but the feeling of togetherness that comes with the holiday, and what Christmas really means for me. I remember my excitement as a child, staring up at the stars, trying my hardest to see Rudolph's nose shining in the night sky. I still get excited about this time of year, and have a tradition of watching Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol." I like the one from the 1930's best. And lets don't forget Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman.

I'll say good night for now, since I am no where near finished with my Christmas decorations,  and wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I love Christmas as well, but I've taken a vow not to buy any more decorations. I have way too many! I do love them. I suppose the arrival of grandchildren (later!) might cause me to change my mind.
