Her Royal Mistake Giveaway!
This came a few days ago! A box of print copies of Her Royal Mistake! The cover by Lacey Savage is lovely!
My birthday was also a couple days ago. To celebrate I'm giving away one print copy to a lucky commenter today. Tell me your favorite birthday present ever! (This year I went with friends on a Mystery Dinner Train. Lots of fun!)

Here's a quick excerpt from Her Royal Mistake:
She trembled as Nardo ran his hands down her bare arms. She’d never thought calloused, workman hands would be pleasant to experience on her skin, but the rough-but-not-too-rough fingers and palms sent amazing sensations shooting over her body. Thank goodness she was no longer wearing the heels because her body actually rocked from the overwhelming sensations and she might have fallen over if she hadn’t had her bare feet flat on the floor.
“You’re so lovely. Bella.” Nardo steadied her with his hands on her hips. “I’m so looking forward to removing this dress and revealing what lies beneath.”
But he didn’t. At least not right away. First, he traced a finger along the neckline of her bodice, branding her skin with the heat from his fingertip. He slid over the curves of her small breasts and dipped between them, making her catch her breath.
Birgitte dropped her head back. Her skin had already been sensitized by the fooling around they’d done inside the maze. Now she wanted to tear off her dress and push him onto the bed. But she didn’t.
There was something about the way Nardo was exploring her, taking his time as if to discover if her back was softer than her arms, or if her meager cleavage was warmer than her neck. More than that, his intense gaze mesmerized her. And the soft words he murmured, most of which she did not understand, made her feel as if he were worshipping her body.
“What are you saying?” she asked when he paused from the lyrical litany rolling off his tongue. “I don’t understand.”
“I’m simply saying how beautiful you are. How fortunate I am to be here with you tonight. How much I’m looking forward to spending time enjoying you.”
“Oh.” No man had made her feel this special before. And that included all the men who praised her for her royal bearing, her royal beauty, her royal body. Nardo didn’t seem to care at all that she was a princess. Perhaps because he grew up with royalty, he wasn’t all that impressed.
But if she didn’t have her royalty, her princess persona going for her, what did he see in her?
Nobody. She was nobody.
Her body wasn’t all that much. She was tall and thin, with no real curves for a man to enjoy. She knew her personality pushed people away. What man wanted to put his arms around a woman known as the Ice Princess?
Still Nardo continued to explore her body with his strong fingers, continued to coo those soft words that flowed so smoothly in his native language. And he still had not begun to remove her gown.

Lachlan wrenched the girl forward into a kneeling position. “My soul is already bound for hell. Best to speed it on its way.”
Another frantic sign of the cross.
“My lord MacLeod, do you take this woman, in front of God and these witnesses, as your wife?”
“I do.”
“And my lady. Do you take this man, in front of God and these witnesses, as your lawful and holy husband?”
The men murmured amongst themselves. Finally, Reyf spoke up. “Should we untie the gag, my lord?”
But before they could make a move, Cailean reached behind the lady, grabbed her head and bobbed it in a nod.
“She does,” Cailean said, his voice clipped.
The priest’s eyes passed over every man. “Very well, then. And God help you all.” He signed the cross above them as though the sheer size of it might cleanse the evil they perpetrated in this chapel. “By the power invested to me by his Majesty, the King, and the office given me by the Holy Mother Church in Rome, I now pronounce you both to be married.”

His hand continued to gently knead her breast and Mia had to stifle the moan that threatened to escape her parted lips. How could he do this to her? How could he make her want what she couldn’t have? He wasn’t touching her, Mia. He was touching Birgitte. He wanted to have sex with a princess.
Her hands flew up to rest against his hard, hot chest. She’d intended to push him away, but somehow her fingers curled into his shirt, gathering the crisp fabric in her fists. “You presume, Vittorio.”
She had to be strong. She had to resist. “Of course, I find you attractive,” she went on, her voice sharp. “Any woman here would. I’m certain you’re well aware of your appeal.”
“I don’t care what any other woman thinks. You are the only one who matters to me.”
If only that were the truth.
No! She didn’t want to matter to him. What was she thinking? He was a prince. A prince who was going to be king someday. The last thing she’d ever want to be was a real, full time princess. And the thought that she’d be a queen? It was laughable. But Mia wasn’t laughing now. Her body was crying for this man, this prince. She had to stay strong.
“Just because I’m attracted to you doesn’t mean I want to have sex with you.”
Vittorio’s chuckle was dark, dangerous. He shifted his body so that one hard thigh pressed between her legs. Her body betrayed her yet again by rocking her hips, pressing that yearning part of her against him. “Your words say one thing, cara, but your body says something else.”
“We haven’t even kissed.” The protest was a weak one to be sure, but they were moving too fast. Rushing toward something she was afraid to embrace.
“A kiss is a prerequisite to sex?” he asked, amused. “If that is so, then I’ll remind you of the kiss we shared on the dance floor.”
“What kiss?” She forced a light laugh. “Oh, that little brush of lips in full view of the entire room? You call that a—”
Vittorio cupped the back of her neck, tugged her forward and crushed his lips to hers.
Heat. He tasted like rich, sweet heat, a treat for the senses. A promise of erotic pleasures to come. Mia opened to him on a moan, letting him invade her with his probing tongue, letting him devour her where she stood. She sank against him and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her tight against his hard, hot body. He was burning her alive.

Bears and Turkey Vultures and Teddy Bears!
We had a hail storm yesterday. But luckily no damage!
A black bear and his turkey vulture friends.
In previous posts, I’ve shown the turkey vultures surrounding the lion and lioness as if they were part of their royal court. And actually perched on top of a rhino that was sleeping. I’ve never seen the bear up and moving around. And I’ve never seen the turkey vultures in his exhibit. So see? They might not be the greatest pictures as far as photography goes, but as far as subject, pretty cool, don’t you think?
I managed to get to 27,000 yesterday, despite being on a LIVE blog
tour from noon until midnight. And I should make my goal by the weekend
of 30,000, maybe more.

Oh, and I’m from the bear state of California, and I’m researching grizzlies in Montana for A SEAL Wolf for Sale, and I saw the bear at the zoo, so what do you think I had a nightmare about???

Is there a better word for full-of-sexiness? I don't think so! My Curve Appeal story from Ellora's Cave is titled Voluptuous and it released last Friday. Meredith is a curvy girl and I had a lot of fun researching plus-sized models and other voluptuous images while I was writing the story.
