I love summer! It's such a beautiful time of year, and I appreciate it even more because I love to garden and be out in nature. The flowers are blooming. The trees are budding. Critters are frolicking. It's enough to make me smile every day, even when there's rain. Plus, there's the naked pictures.
Heh heh heh. Knew THAT would get your attention.
Yes, I said naked pictures, although they're not really what I would call nudes. Maybe semi- or sort of- nudes. It doesn't matter. What matters is, like any good gardener, I planted a seed, quite by accident, and it's grown beyond what I'd ever imagined it could.
My work typically involves my taking on huge projects that take enormous amounts of time, which requires that my attention is divided between my personal and professional life sometimes in a disproportionate way. That means sometimes I feel bad that my DH is left alone while I'm off working all the time.
So, I recently came up with an idea to make sure that while I am gone he didn't think I'd ever forget about him. I collected a bunch of pictures of myself and got ready to put them on his computer so that he would see a pic of me nonstop on his desktop's background, when I remembered I had a few racy pictures from a vacation we'd taken three or four years ago. I got to thinking about it and decided why not just use those? Then he'd either get a huge laugh or enjoy them.
Now, these pictures are really not what I would call racy (says the self-proclaimed nudist). We took them on a lark while being silly, and they amount to me in a nightie lying on a bed and attempting to look seductive. Yes, in one you can see my dimpled bum and in another you can see what's left of my woman's floof just a little bit if you're really squinting and there's bright sunlight, but otherwise they're more funny than sexy. Or at least I thought so.
The day after I loaded these "provocative" shots on his computer, my DH and I shared a good laugh. He loved the idea that I'd put them on there just to remind him of me. But then a funny thing happened after that: his amorous side reared its sexy head three times more that week than normal. I thought it was the sunshine--he's kind of light sensitive and if he doesn't get enough sun he gets blue--or something like that, but it wasn't. It was those pictures.
Being the naturally suspicious wife that I am, I asked him why he reacted to images of his old lady attempting to, after all these years, be a lust goddess. Was it just the guy thing where any naked lady would inspire a reaction? You know what he said? It excited him that I would take the time to put pictures of me on his computer to remind him that I missed him, and that he loved that I tried to be sexy for him because he thinks I am sexy. That was, amidst the rigors of everyday life out in the world of work, one of the most sweet and loving things I'd heard. Feel free to say "Awwww" at this point if you want to. I know I did.
Now, I'm not suggesting you pose naked and post the pictures on FB or Twitter so your friends won't forget you, or for that random guy of MySpace who seems interested in you. These pictures were taken between a man and woman who had been married several years and were sober. Also, they weren't Miley Cyrus sexual. They were more, I'd say, Mona Lisa kind of hot, and clothing was involved more than exposed flesh. So don't think a naked picture of your precious girl parts is just the best perfect birthday gift for that guy you've known a month.
No, the moral of this story is that it truly is the thought that counts. It's not about the bod, which ages exponentially, or the showing of it, which anyone can do. The turn-on here was totally mental and created by a thought, a sentiment, a desire to communicate with a loved one. That's sexy. That's a relationship. And I am one lucky chick!
So now I'm off to garden, to plant a seed of a different kind while I have the chance. My schedule is about to get more hectic because DH is making a special request for more pictures, and I have to figure out how to top this last batch without going overboard. Any ideas? They'd be appreciated a lot.
Happy Reading!

Apple
When you see the word "apple," what does it bring to mind?
A. Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter
B. Orchards of tall trees bearing shiny fruit.
C. That story about the Garden of Eden
D. My IPhone crisis
Your answer might be A, B, or C. Mine is definitely D. All in all, I'd say I spent 24 hours last Saturday freaking out about my IPhone and it's sudden ill-timed decision to lose photos and videos. Typically my phone is fine. It does what I need it to do and gives me few problems that can't be resolved by turning it off and on. However, Saturday, this was not the case.
No, Saturday I pick up my phone and suddenly where there were 100 photos, there were 14. Where there were 17 videos, there were 2. Where there was my sanity, there was a burning smell as my synapses misfired and my brain juices boiled out my ears in stunned dismay.
My DH and I had been to the wedding of a dear friend earlier in the day. She is a lovely soul, a very loving and kind person, and without much money for the nuptials. The reception was actually a carry-in type affair, not catered, and there was no money for a professional wedding photographer or videographer, so the family was taking all the video/pictures. I had asked her if I could get some video and photos and she was very happy to let me, knowing I'm a creative type. Also, her dad had kind of asked me to take some pictures and video because he wanted to make sure if his didn't turn out, then they'd still have something from the wedding and reception (a bit of foreshadowing here).
I really wanted to present her with a DVD of memories and pictures of her special day, and because I knew everyone there, I got some great stuff, which anyone who's taking pictures knows can be a hit/miss proposition. I used my camera most of the time, but it's been acting up and doesn't do video, so I got some cool stuff on my IPhone. My DH and I were thrilled that we'd have something special to give her, but then...
Poof!
I get home after the reception and not but two hours later go to get the pictures and videos off my phone. I tap the photos app and to my horror, I find 20 pictures. Twenty pictures of everything but the wedding. No, wait. There was one of the wedding. One. And there was a picture of a blanket my cousin kintted, a picture of my cat, a picture of a chair I wanted to show my husband--all taken before the wedding--and various other stuff that I can't remember now because I panicked.
Immediately, I try turning it off and on. No luck. I do the next thing everyone does: get on the Internet. I spent hours searching forums and websites and everything I could think of, but no one had a solution that seemed to go with my problem. The worst thing was I couldn't tell if the pictures and photos were backed up or not, so restoring from a backup could wipe everything and restore nothing I needed. The big problem was that my statistics on my phone were showing my stuff was there, but I couldn't see them or get to them. I alternated between frustrated, ticked off, and desolate that I'd let my friend down on her special day.
So I ended up doing what I swore I would never do. I called Apple. I hate calling corporate tech support because it always costs in time and money and stress. If it had just been my random pictures, I would have said good-bye without issue. But it wasn't, so I dialed the number and hoped for the best.
I know many people complain online about tech support from the big tech corporations; however, that guy at Apple, in short, saved the day. Yes, it did cost about $20, but my pictures came back from Bora Bora, or wherever the hell they were, and my videos did, too, although they were upside down. That's my fault because I never can figure out how to use video feature right, but since my DH loves playing with video, he fixes it for me. The Apple guy was patient, professional, and a problem-solver, and thanks to him for helping me be able to give the priceless gift of special memories to my friend.
So my Apple crisis ended up happily ever after. I am in the process of compiling everything to create a memory DVD for the newlyweds. As I look at the pictures and video, I'm so glad I got to be a part of their special day and maybe help capture it for them to watch on their 50th wedding anniversary.
I hope you are having a special day, too. Happy reading!

The Little Guy is 1 Year Old!
"How did that happen?" "Where does the time go?" "He's gotten SOOOO big!"
Just some of the real life dialogue flying around Saturday night during my grandson's first birthday party. I know, it seems like just the other day I was sharing 6 month pictures or even 1 month pictures. First baby pictures. But here I am, sharing 1st birthday pictures of the little guy for your enjoyment on your Monday morning.
Here's the birthday boy. The hat didn't stay on for long! In fact, grabbing pics of him isn't that easy anymore. He's always on the move!
He's a big fan of the movie, "Cars" and the cake was perfect. Almost too cool to cut.
Back with my kids were little, we didn't have special "smash cakes". We just gave the little one the first piece and let him have at it.
"Happy Birthday to yoooooou."
Yum!
Then come the presents. Mommy had to help him get the hang of ripping the paper. He'll be all set now for Christmas.
His uncle gave him Spiderman and Superman pjs. Tonight he got to be Spidey.
Having fun! Vroom. Vroom.
Have a great week. And for our readers in the U.S. Happy Thanksgiving!

Wedding Pics!
We were blessed with an absolutely glorious fall day for my son's wedding this past weekend. I've been asked for pictures, so I was lucky that a lot of people around took them. It was hard to carry my phone in my hand all day, so I got very few myself.
The wedding took place at the Hall of Philosophy at Chautauqua Institution. Blue skies, sunshine, colorful leaves. Perfect.
The happy couple at the rehearsal luncheon on Friday:
And as husband and wife:
They rode away in a horse-drawn carriage:
The reception hall, ready for guests:
The cake table:
Party time!
Singing to his new bride:
Lots of great music. Laughter. Dancing:
It was a wonderful couple of days, not only celebrating the marriage, but doing it with friends and family. But, man, I was exhausted yesterday! And life is back to normal today. Hope you enjoyed the pictures.
