Speed Date Interview with Alpha Hero

Well, helloooo Logan Winter! It is my very great pleasure to meet you today…Let’s get started!

1. What do you do for work? Wheel and deal – I mean I buy and sell companies.

2. What do you do for fun? What could be more fun than wheeling and dealing?

3. Where are you from? The city I was born in has an airport with the same name as mine. (I enjoy riddles.) Currently, I live in Manhattan, but I'm not tied to any one place.

4. Tell us something about your past. No past. It's a closed book. Next?

5. When was your last relationship and how long did it last? Life is fleeting. I'm not into permanence.

6. What do you need in a relationship? Is this a PG site? [Looks around.] Okay, then, I can't use that 3-letter word beginning with 's' and ending in 'x'.

7. What do you bring to a relationship? Money. Connections. What else is there? [Grins] Besides that word I can't say.

8. Do you want to marry or have you ever been married? Never been married. Not on my bucket list.

9. Do you believe in love at first sight? I didn’t, until Amanda presented me with the surprise of a lifetime.

10. Is sexual compatibility important to you? Are you kidding? It’s mandatory.

11. How do you spend your spare time? I enjoy most outdoor activities like sailing and skiing.  And one particular indoor activity. Is this site still PG?

12. Describe your perfect vacation. Give me a hot woman and an exotic location. I’ll take care of the rest.

13. Are you a morning person or a night person? Night. Remember my favorite indoor activity?

14. What is your fairy tale? Uh, fairy tales? Okay, Snow White. I figure I can beat out seven dwarves.

15. What is the longest relationship (not sexual) you have had with animal, vegetable or tangible? Does my airplane count? I have a cool Learjet and one item that is on my bucket list is to learn how to fly it.

16. What do you need that you don't have, Logan? [Long silence.] Some things are just not possible.

17. Where can we learn more about you?

Here's the Blurb for my story, Eclipse of the Heart: Amanda Thompson is offered her dream job as a junior executive at a Manhattan venture firm. The terms are a little vague, but she has a seriously ill sister to provide for, and her new boss is a seriously attractive man. Failure is not an option, so she'll keep her eye on the prize, and her heart and body out of the mix…despite the boss's overly personal interest in her.

Logan Winter is a hard-driving business tycoon who likes his sex life hot and his emotional life cold. His new high-end call girl is a little different from the ordinary bimbos who fill the role. That's okay, since he's ready for different. Even discovering the mistake that's been made is okay, because he knows how to get what he wants…and he wants Amanda.

And, here's an excerpt:

“Logan,” she said, struggling to repeat the words. Lie or not, she had to say them to stop this dangerous madness. “I’m not attracted to you.”

He released her just enough to look down at her. “So why are your nipples hard?”

“Because you’ve been manhandling them!”

His half smile showed, though his face looked a little strained. “Yeah, technically I suppose they have been handled by a man. With great pleasure.”

“I’ve had a long day.” If she didn’t get out of this room, she might grab him. “I’d like to retire to my room. Will you need me tonight for work?”

He raised his brows. “Yes, I will need you,” he said firmly. “Perhaps you’d like to change into something more comfortable?” He glanced at his watch. “Shall we say half-an-hour?”

“Fine.” She suppressed a sigh. He had told her this would be her first night on the job. “Though I don’t need to change,” she added. “What will you want me to do?”

His gaze, which had been lingering on her breasts, snapped to her face.

“Amanda, you’re a sharp woman. Right from the beginning I liked that about you.”

She took a step back. “Your point is?”

“Look, unless you’re wearing a plaid skirt and knee socks, the ingénue approach isn’t my thing.”

“The ingénue approach?” He’d reduced her to a parrot.

“The dumb, innocent act. Even in the right outfit, it wouldn’t be my first choice.”

“I …” She opened and closed her mouth. Words failed her. Had she taken a job with a pervert? Damn! It had seemed so perfect! “What are you talking about?”

“Are you new at this?” he demanded, his eyes narrowing as he looked down at her. “Because I’ve told the agency I want only experienced women. And no games.”

“You know exactly what my experience is. And if you don’t like to play games, then stop speaking in riddles. Just tell me plainly what you want.”

“Fine.” He jerked his hand toward her. “Get undressed.”

Excerpt:

"I’m not attracted to you!" Amanda's breath strangled in her throat as she fought a moan. She'd known it was a mistake to allow her new boss, Logan Winter, to book them into the same hotel room, even if it was a two-bedroom suite.

"Are you sure about that?" Logan asked.

His tongue licked her lips and her mouth fell open, without any decision on her part. He swept in, and this time he kissed her hard. So hard she had to kiss him back. So hard that their tongues couldn't avoid tangling. So hard that it was only natural for his arms to sweep around her and crush her to him.

She tasted whiskey on his tongue, smelled heat on his skin, and heard murmurs of approval in his throat.

No, she wasn’t sure about anything. Except the fact that she couldn’t do this. She couldn’t be thinking about twining her legs around his waist, or falling back on the plush sofa and turning it into a bed.

His mouth moved down her neck as he pressed kisses both hard and tender to her. He bit her where her neck met her shoulder, just as his roaming hands feathered over her breasts. Her purse fell to the floor, and the thump registered a wake-up call.

"Logan," she said, struggling to repeat the words. Lie or not, she had to say them to stop this dangerous madness. "I’m not attracted to you."

Free Today-Love Charm for Carlotta

Love Charm for Carlotta is free today, Sunday May 14. This is a short story (60 pages on Amazon) and here is the blurb:

Carlotta doesn't believe in love charms. Especially not when the bad boy hockey player from her past suddenly re-appears in her life. But the small town island atmosphere of Martha's Vineyard conspires against her when she tries to escape him. Is it the love charm working, or something else? Do people change, or will she be courting heartbreak again if she succumbs to her high school sweetheart?

Excerpt:

Carlotta kneaded the bread fiercely, reminding herself that she'd practically killed herself to eliminate the impulsivity she was born with. She would never repeat the mistakes of her youth. She no longer bolted headlong into ill-conceived temptations.
Except for that craziness last weekend when her friends Ashley and Genevieve had talked her into casting a spell with that—
She froze again.
The love charm.
A blue silk packet made up of a lock of her curly black hair, a ground-up silver bean her friends had given her, and one of the overblown blue flowers from the hydrangea bush at the corner of her yard. She didn't believe in charms and spells, but she'd tossed the silk-enclosed bundle into the moat at the deCordova benefit. The Venetian-themed ball provided such a romantic setting, and when she'd seen the moat – yes, impulse had overtaken her and she'd made a wish and thrown the charm. As she'd expected, no one interesting had approached her that night, and she'd returned to the Vineyard, the love charm forgotten.
Now the memory swept into her kitchen, in a sparkle of remembered hope. She shook her head to dislodge it.
If that damned charm had brought Jace Burton back into her peaceful life like a boomerang from hell, she'd find herself a voodoo witch and hex the lot of them—Ashley, Genevieve, and Jace himself.
She'd tossed that rotten heartthrob-without-a-heart from her life a dozen years ago, and he was never coming back.
A loud rap on the front door signaled that Jace didn't realize he'd been banned from her life.
Her hands clenched in the stretchy dough as if the bread could trap her and save her from moving.
She forced herself to begin kneading again. Maybe if she focused on the work she loved, she could press out this compulsion that ordered her to walk into the living room, approach the door, and open it wide.
In welcome.
She had to resist that instinct because she could never welcome his re-entry into her life.
She'd moved past that tumultuous time when Jace was the center of her existence. She never wanted to go back to it.
"Carlotta!" His deep voice boomed through the house and she heard his self-assurance, his zest for life, and the poignant memories of her first love—all wrapped up in one word—her name.
And twining through the memories was the sharp, bitter, edge of pain, a pointed needle scraping through her flesh.
"Carlotta! Let me in." A brief pause. "Please."
A spring breeze, fresh with the scent of the sea, blew the white, dotted Swiss curtains at the kitchen window. She welcomed the clean May wind, praying it would cool the heat that washed over her body every time she heard his voice.
"I know you're in there, Carlotta." He wasn't angry, but rather amused. He didn't think she could withstand him.
"Do you still leave the door unlocked?" he hollered.
She stiffened. Of course the door was unlocked. She'd never gotten out of the habit, even though she knew it was foolish to be so careless, even on the Vineyard.
She had a key now, which her parents never had, but she forgot about it more often than not.
"I know the door is unlocked, Carlotta, because I know you," he called out. "I'm going to open it now."
She couldn't hear the handle turn from in here, but she could imagine it. She could picture him walking in, his tall figure dwarfing the low-ceilinged living room, his boots loud on the hardwood floor.
She should retreat, escape. Her eyes darted to the back door—
Too late.
