Everyone knows how much I love to take pics, right? I've wanted a dslr camera for years. So... I finally got one! It's a Canon Rebel EOS T2i with an 18 - 135mm lens. It's considered an entry level dslr because it's easy to use, doesn't require a huge amount of technical photography know-how in order to take great photos. I took a photography class many years ago and forgot most of what I learned about ISO, F-stops and all that, but I'm relearning it. So far, I did figure out ISO and white balance. But the great thing is this camera can be fully automatic, fully manual or anywhere in between. I took some test shots of things around the house and thought I'd share. These pictures were way huge and I had to shrink them down to upload but you get the idea.

Oh how lovely! You take amazing pics, Vonda!!!! Thank you so much for sharing these!
Congrats on the new camera and great job on the photos! They're so crisp and clear, even the close ups. I love the one with the yellow swallowtail.
Well, I think the camera works wonderful! If those are mere tests shots, I can't wait to see more of the "real" ones!
Just wow. I don't know much about cameras, but this one is a winner. Your shots are ultra clear, highly defined, and simply beautiful.
Oooh, they're gorgeous, Vonda! I've got to get one like that, though it won't mean I'll be able to take as good a picture as you take!
Thanks so much, Renee! I can't take full credit. :) This camera does a good job for me. What helped me choose this one was that it got the highest percent of 5 star reviews on Amazon as compared to other similar cameras.
Casey, thanks! I love how I can look at the photos full size on my laptop and one specific part of the photo will be totally clear and 100% in focus. I generally rely on autofocus because I'm afraid what looks focused to me really won't be. LOL
Thanks, Tamara! LOL I can't wait either!
Carole, thanks! I didn't know much about new DSLR cameras either which was one reason I hesitated for a while to buy one. What if I didn't know how to operate it? What if I had to go to classes or read books to figure out how to use it? But I didn't. It is very easy.
Terry, thanks! You will love it! Yes, you will be able to take pics like this because, if you want, the camera can do most of the work as far as focusing, lighting, ISO and all that.
You definitely have more than one talent. Not only do you write great books, teach great classes, but now we are realizing you have a great talent for photography. Beautiful, Vonda. I can't wait to see what you come home from Scotland with. Thanks so much for sharing.
How is Paisley Pakway? Flipping from lily pad to lily pad?
Thanks tons, Paisley! I can't wait to share some Scotland pics! Yes, Paisley Pakway is doing just great, eating flies and bugs, sleeping in the mud, taking showers under the waterfall and all that fun stuff. LOL (For those who don't know, she is a frog.)
Gorgeous, Vonda. Gardening and photography, and writing of course, seem to go together. Thanks for sharing.
You took some gorgeous photos, Vonda.
Dawn, thanks! Yes, they do go together wonderfully. The only way to preserve a flower really is to take a photo of it. The moonflowers and morning glory only bloom for one night or one day. The pics allow me to enjoy them a lot longer.
Thanks, Gerri! I'm glad you like them!
Beautiful pics, Vonda. Congrats on the new camera and on getting your books out in print.
Thanks, Carol! I'm excited about both! :)
Great pictures, Vonda! It really makes me miss living out there, with so much beauty everywhere. I love the way you can have a sharp focus on your target and soft focus on the background. I'm sure you're going to love that camera on your trip! I'm saving the old tree pic. :-)
Vonda, honey these are so gorgeous! I especially love the butterflies of course! LOL
Now you make me want to get a camera as well. Thanks for sharing the beauty through your lens.
