I really enjoyed reading about your egg tradition with your daughter and the scattering of chocolate. Must try the chocolate idea some Easter. I figure if hubby sleeps in late, I can gather all the Easter goodies LOL

Mom and I had a special tradition with Easter ceramics. The niece of her beautician handcrafted the most beautiful ceramic whatnots. Every year during my childhood and into my teens, mom bought me an Easter bunny or some other Easter figurine for a keepsake collection. Those are some of my most precious possessions to this day :)

Happy week wishes,

ShawnaShawnaMoorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03396205878623438185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14738657.post-90471713987365199962008-03-27T09:17:00.000-04:002008-03-27T09:17:00.000-04:00Hey Shawna -I'm running behind the bunny. He's hopped out of sight, but here goes anyway.

My sister and I had matching dresses with black patent shoes and little white gloves. Groan. Oh, if you could see me now!

I created different traditions with my daughter. One year we blew eggs and marbled the shells. We put them in a special basket on the sideboard each year. They are truly beautiful.

I used to put a trail of chocolate on the stairs for Easter morning, but our then dog insisted on foraging. That's bad!

Those are three lovely memories. I enjoyed reading all the other comments.

Much cheer.Elen Greyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13642523944054212605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14738657.post-44037567584980282582008-03-25T10:49:00.000-04:002008-03-25T10:49:00.000-04:00Hi, Vonda!Great memory about the golden egg. I'm thinking there must be a way for you to incorporate that Easter bit in a future book :) I also wouldn't have found the attempted egg-napping amusing when younger. Now, like you, it would make me laugh :) While going through a cabinet drawer one day at my parents' home, I found the mesh bag filled with plastic eggs we used for hiding long after the hardboiled Easter eggs were turned into deviled eggs or pickled and mixed with Harvard beets for family brunches.

Thanks for sharing your memory :)

Happy week wishes,

ShawnaShawnaMoorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03396205878623438185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14738657.post-71033564068353217912008-03-25T10:44:00.000-04:002008-03-25T10:44:00.000-04:00Hi, Jill!I agree--those chocolate bunnies aren't a...Hi, Jill!

I agree--those chocolate bunnies aren't as yummy as they were years ago. When craving chocolate a couple days ago, I indulged in a Harry and David dark chocolate truffle :)

I'll always fondly remember the Easter peeps and a special incident surrounding two of them. When I was in junior high, our next door neighbors decided to put in an in-ground swimming pool. While digging up their yard, they happened across two yellow peeps. Evidently, their beagle had raided their grandchildrens' Easter baskets and stashed a couple peeps away for his own enjoyment later LOL Such a precious dog. A perfect buddy for many years.

Thanks for sharing your Easter thoughts :)

Happy week wishes,

ShawnaShawnaMoorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03396205878623438185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14738657.post-18461598539324580472008-03-25T10:03:00.000-04:002008-03-25T10:03:00.000-04:00I tried to comment yesterday but it wouldn't work....I tried to comment yesterday but it wouldn't work. Wonderful post Shawna! I always loved those Easter egg hunts as a kid. One year at school, I found the golden egg and won a prize. Then someone in my class tried to steal it from me. LOL (though not funny at the time.) :-)Vonda Sinclairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05248984087135865252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14738657.post-17446020969633695852008-03-25T02:49:00.000-04:002008-03-25T02:49:00.000-04:00I'm disappointed by the chocolate bunnies this yea...I'm disappointed by the chocolate bunnies this year. When I was a kid all chocolate tasted good. Now I eat it and think, is this stuff synthetic or laced with wax or what?

This is what I get for eating my children's candy. Mine were quite different. We'd make a huge mess coloring Easter eggs, and they always came out blotchy. Easter morning we'd run around the house looking for all those horrifically-colored eggs and an Easter basket for each of us filled with jelly beans and chocolate. That grass would end up all over the floor in a tangled mess and by mid-afternoon I'd be feeling queasy after stuffing myself with hard boiled eggs and chocolate - what a breakfast! We never did the Easter dress and bonnet thing, and since my mom was Catholic and my Dad was...not, there was always a tug-of-war going on about that! And since our family was out in California and nobody else was, we never did the extended family thing either.

Now my boys are a little too old for Easter baskets. So we attended a sunrise service and then went to a movie. Then the boys filled up water balloons and had a water balloon fight in the street, since we had beautiful sunny warm weather in the high 70's.

Thanks for sharing your memories!Carol Ericsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05957449133993571882noreply@blogger.com
