A Visit to My Garden

Show me your garden and I shall tell you what you are.

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace.
May Sarton

Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.
Luther Burbank

I grow plants for many reasons: to please my eye or to please my soul, to challenge the elements or to challenge my patience, for novelty or for nostalgia, but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow.

How deeply seated in the human heart is the liking for gardens and gardening.

A garden must combine the poetic and the mysterious with a feeling of serenity and joy.

Do you take care of your garden by yourself or do you hire a group of gardeners, Vonda? My goodness, it is so large and gorgeous and must take a lot of time. What a good place to spend time and let your muse take in all of its beauty. Thanks for another tour.

Thanks, Paisley! My husband helps with some of the bigger projects, like building the pond, stone walls, laying flagstone or landscaping a bank. And sometimes in planting bushes or trees. He is growing the veggie garden this year. He also cleans pond filters and mows part of the yard. We have more projects in mind for the future to try and get some of it under control. LOL I have more imagination than time to spend on it. :)

Beautiful! I hope you get to write in your garden. It must be peaceful.

Thanks, Carole! Sometimes I sit on the porch and write. It's nice listening to the waterfall.

Vonda, what a beautiful garden. I miss the one I had in Germany, but I don't miss the work.

Thanks, Ella! It is a lot of work, but I enjoy it. :)

Beautiful pictures, Vonda. Gardens are a lot of work, and I think it must be peaceful work. However, I have no desire to do it. lol

LOL Carly! Sometimes I wish I wasn't addicted to plants. Thanks for checking it out!

Beautiful Vonda and thank-you! Wonderful break to the day of writing in doors. Is that an echineacea flower? One of my favourites, but don't see many this far north. Thank-you for the tour~

Hi Jennifer, thanks! Yes, that is an echinacea. I've wanted to grow them for years, and finally got them to live this year. Yay! :)

Oh, it is so beautiful. You must be so inspired by it. I can just picture myself there letting my mind wander... Just lovely.

Thanks, Tami! It is a nice, relaxing place to sit. :)

Your garden is so amazing, Vonda. Your flowers are so beautiful and your pond turned out great. Cool statue, too. :-)

Thanks, Vanessa! I love statues that have a classical look to them. Wish I could find more.

Vonda,
Strolling through your garden felt peaceful. I have more garden than I can keep up with. People tend to think of gardening as peaceful work, but it's not. YOu've done a lot of hard work; so has your hubby.
Thanks for sharing it.

BTW, I'm a rose lover, so I'm curious as to the name of the rose in the last picture. Do you know?
Thanks,
Julie

Thanks Julie! I'll say the same thing... I have more garden than I can keep up with. LOL It definitely is very hard work. It is especially hard on the back. The rose is the climber, America. I love the color of it.
