I have too many guilty pleasures and addictions to talk about in one blog post. I'm addicted to kilts and Scotland, of course (you already knew that!) Romance novels, writing, hiking, chocolate, hazelnut coffee. Then there are my TV addictions. Like Natasha, I love gardening and design shows on HGTV, etc. I too have no idea why I love House Hunters. I guess it's just fun to vicariously shop for a house. But my main design show addiction is Clean House on Style Network. It's part comedy, part therapy, part reality show, part learn-how-declutter-and-let-go-your-junk, part design show. It has everything, all in one hour. These people live in rooms that look like a dumpster exploded, so the before and after is dramatic. I love the reveals at the end and how the people's lives and whole outlook changes. It's a really positive, uplifting show that makes me feel good.
I'm also addicted to Lost (the best TV series ever made!) and have never missed an episode. In fact I have them all on DVD so I can watch anytime. But now I have to wait til 2010 for the next and final season. :( But for now they've left us with a major cliffhanger... they blew themselves up intentionally in 1977. Will they still be alive in 2007? Will they never crash on the island and never know each other? Ahh the complexities of time travel. Other TV shows I'm addicted to include The Bachelor/ Bachelorette, Two and a Half Men, America's Next Top Model, and Most Haunted. What variety, huh? I never know what I'll get hooked on next. :)
Some years (like this year) I have an addiction to plants, flowers and gardening. May is one of my favorite months because some of the most beautiful plants bloom in my garden. (Oh yeah, and I'm addicted to photographing them too.) Here are some pictures I took in the last 2 days.

Since I also have the photography addiction, anytime I see something unique and interesting, I have to take a picture of it! Like this huge mushroom I found under some trees in my yard. And this beautiful rainbow.

Your garden is unbelievably beautiful. My husband does our garden because I have these two black thumbs.
I know we've discussed this before, but my addiction is everything Scottish, especially Gerard Butler. I never can see enough photos or watch the movies enough time. Ironically, I have learned a lot about my writing from the addiction - inspiration!
Good for you on your contribution to Brenda's auction. I have a homemade flannel baby quilt in the auction. I love entering these every year in the auction. Brenda does such an amazing job with her project.
I feel so...boring. How do you find time for all this stuff? I would love to watch that de-cluttering show. But I don't think we have the HG thing. We have the very barest bones cable (and that we just got a few years ago).
Yes, your flowers are gorgeous.
Carly
Great addictions!
Ah, my additions...way too many to list here, but I'll put down the top contenders in no particular order! Chocolate, starbucks, romance, movies, outside, email, books, history, cooking, writing, wine, relaxation, Europe, knights, warriors, men in kilts, lords and ladies, princesses and princes, kings and queens, castles, manor homes, nobility, famous gardens...and my tv shows...NCIS, House, anything on the History channel, Most Haunted and The Tudors.
Your garden is beautiful!!! I don't have a green thumb, but I wish I did!
A fun post today, Nicole. Don't worry, your secrets are safe with us! My biggest addiction is travel. Love seeing new places, trying new foods. The smallest, at least at the moment, is jigsaw puzzles. I've been buying them up everywhere, and I find it relaxing to work them into pictures. Speaking of which, your flowers are gorgeous. Good luck with that green thumb!
Great post, Nicole. I share your addiction to hazelnut coffee too :) Gorgeous photos! I bet your garden is beautiful. Like Paisley, my husband takes care of our plants and flowers because I'm the kiss of death to them.
Beautiful flowers! I do not have a green thumb - at all. Considering a fake plant for the house because every one I put in the corner dies. I'll have to find that Style channel because my friend's wedding was taped for the show and it's on in June on the Style channel on some wedding show!
These are gorgeous! You are so lucky to have this kind of beauty so close at hand. So pretty!
Paisley, thanks!! And I bet your husband does a great job with the garden. Glad to share my Scottish addiction with you. LOL Yes, Gerard is a hottie! He also inspired one of the heroes I wrote. I love contributing to Brenda's auction. Such a great cause!
Carly, LOL! I'm sure you are very interesting! You will have to grab that remote (those remotes?) away from your DH. LOL The decluttering show (Clean House) is on Style Network instead of HGTV. There are a couple more home type channels. DIY and maybe another?? Can't remember. I don't generally turn those on unless I'm exhausted and need to rest for a while, or if it's late at night. As for the other favorite shows, there are only 2 at the moment (that I don't want to miss) with new seasons. Most of the others are off or in reruns. And then there is my husband's addiction, basketball. So he is in control of the remote some nights. :) Thanks about the flowers! I enjoy growing them.
Tessy, thanks for dropping by!!
Eliza, finally someone who has more addictions than I do. LOL!! Thanks! I bet you would have a green thumb if you gave it a try. :)
Pat, thanks!! I have fun with the flowers. Bought some more today in fact. :) I LOVE to travel too and I want that to be my addiction. LOL
Natasha, I have to have my International Delight hazelnut for my coffee at home. LOL And McDonalds hazelnut iced coffee is pretty good usually. (The cup I got today, not so much.) I'm sorry to hear so many of you don't have green thumbs. :)
Carol, you too with the no green thumb? :) I think it just takes practice. And I grow things that are fairly easy to grow. It has to be things that take care of themselves most of the time. Anything that is really work intensive I refuse to grow. Is your friend on Whose Wedding Is It? I see that advertised a lot but generally don't watch it. Let me know when it will be on and I'll watch. How cool that you know someone on a show like that!
Cameo, thanks!! I'm a plant lover. LOL
My addictions? Writing, romance, books, travel, chocolate, old movies, flower gardens, coffee, and my husband. :)
The flowers posted are beautiful! A few weeks ago we visited Longwood Gardens outside of Philadelphia. I posted some, along with lessons learned. If you're interested:

Wonderful blog, and a fascinating topic.
Ack, you should see mine! No, you shouldn't! I'm afraid I've got the garden of weeding no matter how hard I work at it! Hmm, addictions, writing, of course, reading, and chocolate. :) Oh, and emails!
Deb, you have some fun addictions! I loved the garden pics on your blog! Beautiful! Thanks for stopping by!
Terry, I have those same addictions. :) I'm sure your garden is gorgeous!
Hi Nicole,
Catching up on emails and saw your post on the loop. I LOVE your pics. And I love to garden. I'm a sucker for beautiful, fragrant roses. Or any plant at a store that looks like it's calling out for me to save it!!
OH, and book sales, especially books on writing. Ii have to keep any new books in my car and take them out little by little so they're not noticed by the DH. Of course, we have so many books, he might not notice. But just to be safe, because he constantly tells me, "Nooo more books!!!"
I don't say a thing.
:-)
