Cameo Brown explores Second Nature

I'm so happy that today we have Cameo Brown here to tell us about her first story from Red Sage, Second Nature!

Cameo Brown is a word freak, book addict, and erotica devotee. She enjoys living in the world of stories, especially the erotic ones, whether reading or writing them. In real life, she lives somewhere just right of the middle of the United States with her totally delectable husband, who still doesn’t quite understand why she enjoys sitting at the computer so much, and a passel of temperamental felines who are plotting to take over the world. Her work, which includes short stories and novellas, can be found in print in Carroll & Graf’s Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica: Volume 7, Alyson Publications’ Island Girls anthology, online at,, and Lucrezia Magazine, and recently released or forthcoming from Scarlet Magazine, eRedSage (Second Nature), Changeling Press (the Dragon's Song series and the Lust at Sea series), Mojocastle Press, and Torquere Press.

Nicole: Welcome, Cameo! Please tell us about your latest book release. (Beautiful cover, by the way!)

Cameo Brown: Second Nature, just out this month, is my first release from Red Sage, and I am really excited. It's been one of my favorite novellas to write! Here's a quick description of it: Claret McDaniel struggles to face a world in which she doesn't belong and doesn't know why. Graham Norton knows, though, and he's taken human form to return to society from the forest to claim what he thinks is his. Confused, Claret is drawn to the enigmatic Graham, but his ability to arouse her deepest desires, those she didn't even know existed, angers her. That anger will drive her to try to ruin the one person who holds the key to her past and her future, just as she holds the power to destroy his entire world. Will he be able to convince her his desire is real before it's too late for them both?

Nicole: Sounds wonderful! Please tell us about your favorite character in the book.

Cameo: There are really only three main characters--Claret, Graham, and Nature--and I love them all. They were great fun to work with. Graham is powerful, yet smitten with the impish Claret. I love the strong sexy type! Claret is a flower waiting to bloom, a woman who thinks she knows exactly where her life is going but doesn't really. Is she in for a surprise--heh heh. And Nature is, well, Nature. It's gonna do what it's gonna do, and for Graham and Claret, that's going to be taking its course. Ooh la la.

Nicole: What element of story creation is your favorite?

Cameo: I love creating characters! I find people, animals and forces of nature fascinating. The male species is especially intriguing to me. I love men, and getting to write about them in their most wild, personal, loving, sexy and crazy moments is an absolute kick!

Nicole: I'm with you there! I love creating heroes. What element of this story was the hardest for you?

Cameo: Keeping Graham and Claret away from each other long enough to move the story forward. No matter how I begged, they just wanted to roll around and copulate like bunnies. Naughty, naughty!

Nicole: LOL!! They do have a mind of their own, don't they? Do you have any advice for unpublished authors?

Cameo: If you love writing, keep at it. It's hard work, but worth it when you meet your goals.

Nicole: Would you like to ask blog readers a question?

Cameo: I'm sure other authors have asked this before, but what do you want most from an erotic story? What does the author need to do to make it a satisfying read for you? (Because we are more than willing to try anything to make it satisfying!)

Nicole: Thanks again for being our guest, Cameo! More information about Cameo and her stories, including book trailers, can be found at

Cameo, great interview. I think like most readers and writers of erotic romance, I like my sex scenes packed with emotion. There has to be an underlying reason why the characters are in bed - power struggle, seeking warmth and protection, proving a point, letting go of inhibitions. This heightens the sensuality, and the story builds to these moments. Wonderful cover BTW.
